Pharrell urges Virginia Beach citizens to become Airbnb hosts to support upcoming festival

Pharrell Williams is getting ready to host his inaugural “Something In The Water” festival and is calling for citizens of his home state of Virginia to host festival goers with Airbnb.

The “Happy” hitmaker took to his social media channels to speak to those who live in Virginia Beach and Hamptons Roads and hopefully persuade them to rent their homes during the festival. His hope is to allow for those coming to enjoy the three-day festival to make themselves at home in the homes of people who live there.

Virginia Beach station WKTR attached to the post a video of Skateboard P and KAWS, a fellow artist, sharing a longer message to influence Virginians.

“Okay, so as you could see I’m standing here right now with KAWS so literally there is no effect without him. Just super excited about Something In The Water so what we did was we reached out to Airbnb and they made a super significant commitment to come and be a part of you know, our community.”

The “Something In The Water” festival is headlined by Teddy Riley, Migos and frequent collaborator and fellow Virginia native, Pusha T. Additional artists who will be part of the lineup include SZA, Travis Scott, the Dave Matthews Band, Janelle Monae, Anderson .Paak and the Free Nationals, and Chris Brown.

Pharrell will also host a set titled “Pharrell & Friends” that will feature appearances from Diddy, Missy Elliott, Usher, Gwen Stefani and Snoop Dogg.

The festival will take over Virginia Beach the weekend of April 26 but is currently listed as sold out on the website.
