Tommy-focused ‘Power’ spinoff announced: Starz
‘Power Book IV: Force’ focuses on the life of Tommy Egan, played by Joseph Sikora. It was supposed to follow a political-drama spinoff helmed by Larenz Tate.
Power Book IV: Force is the latest spinoff to emerge out of the Starz Power series. The highly-rated series had four planned follow-ups on deck, but Force has reportedly jumped the line and will be coming even sooner.
The spinoff focused on the life of Tommy Egan, played by Joseph Sikora, was supposed to follow a political drama helmed by Larenz Tate, who’s portraying corrupt politician Rashad Ford. The Tate-starring prequel, Power Book V: Influence, will now be its last in line.

“Power has been one of the most successful series in premium pay television during its six-year run, garnering more than 10 million multiplatform views in its last two seasons, and we can’t wait to take fans in a whole new direction as we pick up Tommy’s story with Power Book IV: Force,” Starz president of programming Christina Davis said via statement.
Power Book II: Ghost will star several of the original show’s stars grappling with their future after the murder of Ghost, played by Omari Hardwick. The show will find Tasha (Naturi Naughton) on trial for the murder committed by her son, Tariq (Michael Rainey, Jr.)

It will be followed by Power Book III: Raising Kanan, the prequel focused on the character played by the show’s executive producer, 50 Cent. The series is set to begin production in 2021.
Power Book IV: Force, for which there is no date yet for start of production, will follow Tommy’s life after he leaves New York and heads west.
Power creator Courtney Kemp told Entertainment Weekly that starting the Power spin-offs with the Tommy Egan character was an easy way out. Instead, she chose Tariq, a less-likable character.

“There’s an easier way to do this, right?” she admits. “You just do a lovable, cuddly-like Tommy series — which we’re going to do. Well, it won’t necessarily be cuddly. [Laughs] But there’s low hanging fruit here, and I’m not going for it.”
Legendary songstress Mary J. Blige will be a main character in Power Book II.
Kemp said that “women, especially women of color, but all women, are going to find really great inspiration while watching as we move forward.”
