Chrissy Teigen, John Legend mourn the loss of baby boy after miscarriage

Supermodel and television host Chrissy Teigen has suffered a miscarriage of her third child with husband John Legend.
Teigen posted a heartbreaking photo of herself in a hospital room, sitting on the edge of a bed with tears streaming down her face. In the caption, she announced that the couple’s son had died.
“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before,” Teigen wrote. “We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”
Teigen wrote that she and Legend had not previously decided on their children’s names until after they were born; still, for some reason, the couple referred to the unborn child as “Jack.”
“So he will always be Jack to us,” she wrote. “Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever.”
Legend retweeted the Instagram post, writing: “We love you, Jack.”

The couple has two other children together: Luna Simone, 4, and Miles Theodore, 2.
Teigen has been transparent about her fertility challenges. In a 2018 interview with People, she said that both Miles and Luna were conceived via in vitro fertilization. At the time, she maintained that it would “be awesome” to conceive without IVF.
Her third pregnancy was a surprise to the couple, she shared on Twitter in August. “But what they say so often can be true,” she wrote. “When you give up on trying, life has a way of surprising you.”

Teigen, who is very active on both Twitter and Instagram, where she has tens of millions of followers, sought to reassure fans that while she had been experiencing heavy bleeding, she remained hopeful that the child would survive the high-risk pregnancy.
On Wednesday, she wrote to “Jack,” saying, “I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you.”
